The Melbourne Demons, officially called the Melbourne Football Club, are an Australian rules football club based in Victoria, Melbourne. They were one of the first footy clubs in Victoria and were thus a founding member of the VFA, VFL, and the current AFL.

In 1933, the team changed its nickname to the ‘Demons’ and entered into their ‘Age of Greatness’. For the next 30 years, the team would consistently dominate the league, winning six flags and appearing in nearly every single Grand Final from 1954-1960.


On a world wide basis, badminton has a history of more than 2000 years. Originating from the ancient game of Battledore and Shuttlecock, the game became known as “Badminton” – the name of the home of the Duke of Beaufort in Gloustershire, where in the mid 19th Century it was an enjoyable pastime of the Duke’s guests when driven indoors by bad weather.

Badminton was introduced to Australia in Fremantle, WA in 1905, with the Australian Badminton Association being formed in 1935. Since its beginning the game has spread to all States & Territories. In 1936, Australia become the 11th member association of the IBF.


The Victorian Squash Federation commenced on 1 January 1988, when it took over from the previous State Parent Body, the Victorian Squash Rackets Association. In 2009 the organisation adopted the trading name, SQUASH VIC and in 2014 with the adoption of the new strategic plan this became SQUASH & RACQUETBALL VICTORIA.
