Why Telehealth?

Telehealth, in the context of the Australian healthcare setting, can be defined as the use of videoconferencing technologies to conduct a medical consultation where audio and visual information is exchanged in real time.

As the COVID-19 situation evolves, the option of Telehealth consults for patients, especially those with chronic conditions, is becoming increasingly relevant and important.

There is a great deal of research showing Telehealth is a suitable clinical option to manage a range of different conditions.

How does it work?

Once you book in a Telehealth appointment, an email is sent to you with a link via Zoom which will take you to the Telehealth appointment and you can use the following devices:

Your phone, or

A laptop with inbuilt camera, or

A desktop computer with a webcam

How do I set up for a video session with my practitioner?

  1. After making an appointment download the Zoom App (or desktop/ laptop program) and we will email you an invitation to a scheduled Zoom ‘meeting’ with your practitioner (along with more detailed information regarding this process).
  2. Receptionist will then phone you in regards to your payment and receipt can be sent via your email.
  3. At least 5 minutes before the appointment, make sure you are in a private space where you have enough room to demonstrate exercises where necessary and will not be disturbed during your appointment. Please wear clothing appropriate for your appointment ie. Shorts if your Practitioner is assessing a knee injury or active wear if you will be doing exercises.
  4. When you are ready, click the link in the email invitation. This will open up a new window where your session will take place.
  5. To make further appointments, email admin@lakesidesmc.com.au,book via HotDoc or call 96826029

**Please note you can sign up for a Zoom account however this is not necessary for the consultation to take place.

Please make sure you are wearing clothes that make it easier for the practitioner to view and perform appropriate exercises.

Is Covered by my Private Health Insurance?

Telehealth has recently been approved and is now covered under many private health insurance funds.

As this has only recently been approved, contact your Private health insurer to see if you are covered. What Happens During a Session?

What Happens during the session?

Your Practitioner will have already read your detailed history form that you have filled in prior to the session.

  • Assess.
  • Ask you to perform some tests to get further information
  • Provide a diagnosis and education you on your condition and potential causes.
  • Set an individualised exercise plan which is monitored and progressed over time

If you are unsure if you are suitable for this service, please clarify with our receptionist on 9682 6029 or email admin@lakesidesmc.com.au.
